This is the "official" website of the adult rec hockey league team, the Beer Hawks. We are going to have some new faces again this session and will hopefully be able to repeat as league champs even though we are in a different rink.
We typically play our games at Seven Bridges Ice Arena in Woodridge, IL.
Matt had 5 points. Rick got 12 pims. New guy got a goal. Lots of fat, old, slow guys.
Next Game is Tuesday, 1/26 @ 10pm at Seven Bridges vs Capitalist Pigs 2.
Decent game overall. Cooney had a hat trick in what may have been his last Beer Hawks game. Good luck in DC, Chris. Ryan ejected himself from the game when the other team was chanting "MVP! MVP!" and he realized that they weren't talking about him.
Next Game is whenever.
Z recorded his second shutout as the Beer Hawks blanked the Bandits 3 by a score of 3-0. Way to go, Z!
Next Game is Thursday, 12/17 @ 10:50pm vs Elmhurst Public at Addison. PLAYOFFS
Gave up 7 straight goals to blow our lead. Maybe, it's us that shouldn't be in C3. Is there a C4? C5?
Next Game is Tuesday, 11/24 @ 10:00pm vs Coyotes at Seven Bridges.
It wasn't pretty. But, it's a win. We went up 6-2 in the first. Then, proceeded to give up 7 unanswered goals to go down 6-9. We scored with under a minute remaining in regulation to tie it and scored the OT winner on a PP. Ryan was player of the game with a 6 pt (4 G, 2 A) night. Clark actually hit the net twice for goals (though, he had about 50 scoring chances that he didn't finish). Steve did NOT get a penalty. We're not sure how that happened. We scored 10 goals and Rick and Stan did not get any points at all. Even #5 got an assist for our team. And, we didn't even have a #5 playing!
Next Game is Wednesday, 11/11 @ 10:20pm vs Windy City Jets at Seven Bridges.
We sucked. They shouldn't be in C3.
Next Game is Wednesday, 11/4 @ 10:20pm vs Misfits at Seven Bridges.
We sucked. They shouldn't be in C3.
Next Game is Wednesday, 10/28 @ 10:20pm vs Elmuhurst Public at Seven Bridges.
As is typical against the Bandits, this was another hard fought struggle. We needed to go to OT and rely on Clark's pinpoint accuracy to net the game winner. Yeah, we didn't think he'd hit the net, either. But, he did. Thom Orr continues his scoring streak by netting 2 assists. Jimmy had 2 goals but one was waved off because the ref was to slow and/or lazy to get in position to see it go in. Z played a strong game. He even did a perfect impersonation of Huet when he let a slow trickler slide through his 5 hole allowing the Bandits to tie the game at 4.
Next Game is Monday, 10/19 @ 10:40pm vs Black Bears at Seven Bridges.
Offense couldn't score. Defense couldn't defend. Goalie couldn't stop. Well earned team loss.
Next Game is Thursday, 10/15 @ 9:50pm vs Bandits 3 at Seven Bridges.
The game on Thursday, 10/1 vs Coyotes has been canceled. Once it is rescheduled, you will be notified.
We certainly played better this game. But, it also helped that we were playing a team that has just started playing together. Stan, Ryan, Bob and Greg had 3 point nights. Roach continued his Bobby Orr streak by getting another assist. That's 2 games in a row that Roach got a point. A new record!!! And, he got his obligatory penalty. Z has a stellar 1 GAA going right now.
Next Game is Wednesday, 10/7 @ 10:10pm vs Capitalist Pigs 2 at Seven Bridges.
We played 2 awful periods of "chicken with their heads cut off" hockey. But, it was good enough to put together a 6-1 win. The Gosling took the early Beer Hawk point lead by notching a goal and 2 assists. Steve came back in season shape by getting 2 penalties. And, Greg scored a goal. At least, that is what they told him as he was flattened by 2 opposing players and never saw where his shot went. Jimmy obviously wasn't ready for the season to begin. He had Stan lined up for a brutal hit at center ice yet stopped just short of running his teammate. We don't expect him to make that mistake again.
Next Game is Monday, 9/21 @ 10:40pm vs Windy City Jets.
After Leonard's pitiful display of begging for points, I have met with all necessary people (aka myself) and have implemented The Hetfleisch Rule.
The Hetfleisch Rule is named after Bill Hetfleisch who was notorious for following the refs to the scorer's table after every single goal in order to make sure he got either the goal itself or an assist. Rumor has it that he was so good at working the refs that he once recorded 3 goals and 4 assists in a game that he wasn't even at.
The Punishment: If it is determined that a Beer Hawks player is begging for points from the refs during a game, the Committee has the discretion to disallow some or all of the points recorded and they will not count towards official Beer Hawks stats.
Leonard has joined the 100 Point Club. He is the first Beer Hawk to hit the 100 mark at Addison Ice Arena. He did it with a goal and 2 assists.
Yet another Beer Hawk broke the 100 career point mark by getting a hat trick. Greg had 99 points in 99 games. But, in his 100th career game as a forward, he netted a hat trick and an assist to break the century mark.
Ryan is the third Beer Hawk to break the 100 career point mark by getting a hat trick. Congrats to Ryan.
The Beer Hawks would like to welcome Kevin to the 100 point club. He had a goal and an assist to put him at 101 points. Congrats.
Jimmy has joined the elite list of 100 point Beer Hawks. He had a hat trick and an assist in the championship game to bring his career total to 102 points. Congrats.
Since the Beer Hawks started keeping track of stats a few years ago, Bill had his mind set on hitting 100 points. His hat trick in the championship game of the Summer '06 season gave him the final 3 points needed to attain that goal. With 61 G and 39 A, Bill is the Beer Hawks first official 100 point getter. Congrats Bill. Just think where you would be if you actually showed up to a few more games.
If you still haven't paid me for this season or if you still owe me money for the jersey, get that to me as soon as possible.
